'Between The Leaves' sees the 'Book Editions' series return. Beautiful vintage books have been cut up, re-assembled and re-structured into book-bound CD covers, once again highlighting the theme of fragility within the series. Each edition will also feature delicate prints, old library cards, stamps, book-marks, vintage slides, old photos, vintage negatives, page inserts, etc. Each copy a complete original... 150 for the world!
Between The Leaves is a slow-burning stunner from Pepo Galán and Shinji Wakasa. In 2019, both musicians decided to collaborate on a new album, one with free experimentation ‘without corrections or technicalities’ first and foremost. At its heart, Between The Leaves revolves around Pepo’s improvised minimalist pianos and Shinji’s ambient manipulations and additional tweaks. The ambient atmosphere traces itself around the piano and its cool, washed-out notes, never interfering, only adding (the perfect template for an excellent team). Both of these elements turn the music into something of a magic spell, ‘a journey through…the most hidden forests of Japan to a botanical garden in southern Spain’
Made by hand, 1 x Vintage (circa:1889-1952) hardback clothbound book (re-assembled / book binding taped together into CD covers including; 1 x glass mastered CD (Not CDR), 15-20 Pages of writing / images, 20 x A7 polaroid prints on luxury uncoated paper (designed by Craig Tattersall), 1 x stamped library card, 2 x vintage photographs, 1 x vintage book-mark, 1 x vintage numbered photo negative resting inside original waxed bag, 1 x vintage 35mm slide, 1 x incense, stamped / hand numbered / scented, all of the above rests inside Japanese wax bags, made with love...
