Detail:
In typical Muslimgauze style, the newly unearthed Sadaam’s Children is as idiosyncratic as it is aggressively straight-forward. While his 1997 album Narcotic looms large in the LP’s title, having been lifted almost directly from the track listing, crystal clear strings are nowhere to be found here. Interminable and implacably archaic grooves emit from the percussive drive of "Believers of the Blind Sheikh" and the herculean length of "Gulf Between Us", showcasing Muslimgauze at his most chilled-out, while "Tikrit Brotherhood Quartet" mulls on a sampled sitar drone and hand percussion across its runtime. Shimmering mirages abound; such is the nature of Bryn Jones’ labyrinth
